ABC is such a rip. The description of tonight's Lost was "Flashbacks of the core characters show what they were doing before the crash."
Cool - I'm not much for the backstories, but I figured it would help me learn more so I was excited to watch it.

RRRiiiiigggghhhttt. Turns out the entire episode was snippets of what happened from the time the plane crashed until the last new episode a few weeks ago. NOTHING at all like the description said. Too bad ABC knows we're Lost junkies & won't tune away because of their crap.

The good thing? May starts on Sunday and that means 4 new episodes of Desperate Housewives and Lost in a row.

Tom Cruise is dating Katie Holmes? Sounds like someone has hit mid-life crisis full smack in the face. Guess I don't blame Katie for dumping that dude from American Pie now.....whatever. I don't care either way, just find it rather funny that TC goes from Nicole Kidman to Selma Hayek, er Penelope Cruz to Katie Holmes.

Anyway, 2 more days at Vartec. It feels weird to realize I can't procrastinate at work because I now have a very solid, very unmoveable deadline. :) My exit interview is tomorrow so that should be quite interesting.

The State House in South Carolina recently passed a bill protecting cocks from cockfighting, but declined to elevate domestic violence from a misdemeanor to a felony. Rep. John Graham Altman appears to be one of the most insensitive, arrogant, chauvinistic men I've read about in a long time. A few comments from Neanderthal Altman:

About the Domestic Violence Bill: "I think this bill is probably drafted out of an abundance of ignorance."

As Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter said of the two bills, "What we have said by the actions of the Judiciary Committee is we aren't going to create a felony if you beat your wife, partner, husband. But now, if you've got some cockfighting going on, whoa! Wait a minute."

Neanderthal Altman responds with "People who compare the two are not very smart, and if you don't understand the difference between trying to ban the savage practice of watching chickens trying to kill each other and protecting people rights in CDV statutes, I'll never be able to explain it to you in a 100 years ma'am."

Neanderthal Altman speaks about domestic violence, "There ought not to be a second offense. The woman ought to not be around the man. I mean you women want it one way and not another. Women want to punish the men, and I do not understand why women continue to go back around men who abuse them. And I've asked women that and they all tell me the same answer, John Graham you don't understand. And I say you're right, I don't understand."

Not only doesn't he understand domestic violence and why it's so hard for women to leave, who's rights are you protecting by leaving the Domestic Violence bill as a misdemeanor????? The batterer, that's who!

Neanderthal Altman also states, "It's not the woman's fault, it's not blaming the victim, but tell me what self-respecting person is going back around some one who beats them" Not blaming the victim? Not the woman's fault? That's *exactly*what he did in his previous statements, spreading his bull about 'I just don't understand why women won't leave. Why do they want to punish the man, blah, blah blah.'

What a chauvinistic bastard. I'm glad I don't live in South Carolina.

Well, the cat's out of the bag at work so I may as well fill you all in:

I've have accepted an offer of employment with Citigroup. Slightly higher pay, half the commute I have now and a *stable* company, which is mostly what I was looking for.

Anyway, I will be starting on Monday May 2. I guess I should feel excited, but I don't really. I don't like starting new jobs or being with people I don't really know, but I know I will get used to it. It's as a supervisor in the Auto Insurance area - something I know nothing about. I know I can learn it, though. I learned Satellite, Internet & Telecom at my last 3 jobs, so why not add insurance! hahahah.

Anyway, just wanted to share.

I just have to say one thing about the people in Hollywood already lined up to see the new Star Wars on May 19. Who the *hell* can get off work for over 1 MONTH to sit in line to see some damn movie?? It's going to be a good movie whether you're the first person to see it or the 2000th. Geez. Get a life people!

Today was a busy day for the O'Malley's. We did yard work. I'd say we spent a total of 4 hours mowing & fertilizing the lawn, trimming shrubs and cleaning up. I love our house when the yard looks nice. Then we began work on the pool - starting early this year so we can swim sooner than beginning of June. Tonight we went to see Guess Who with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac. It was really funny. I'd recommend it. Tomorrow I'm cleaning the inside of the house and doing laundry. Both are long overdue. :)

Watauga is in the national spotlight after a 911 dispatcher's stupid joke during a call. If you don't believe me, google "Watauga" and "911" and you'll see. While I don't know the family, a few things bother me about them:

1. When I was 12 or 13 my mom would never have had to call the cops on me because I was fighting with my brother. My parents put the fear of God into me (to a degree) that they would beat my butt if I didn't listen to them. I can tell you I get plenty of butt whippings.

2. Huge blow-up fights don't generally happen overnight. Why did this mother leave the siblings home by themselves while she was at work?

3. The dispatcher did send 2 officers and the officers were told the family didn't need assistance anymore. If it was that big of a fight, why wasn't it still going on a few minutes later? I think the mother called 911 so she could threaten her daughters with the police coming, which is a huge abuse of the 911 system.

The dispatcher was reprimanded, as he should have been. I would have been mortified if I was that man's supervisor. But a firing? I don't think so. The Police Chief was on the Mike Gallagher show this morning and said the dispatcher was a good employee. A reprimand is all the discipline he'll be getting and I agree with that.

Yesterday was my 6 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe I've been married for 6 years already. That also means I've lived in Texas for 6 years since we moved about 3 weeks after our wedding.

Tom & I actually celebrated this year - we went to Dave & Buster's. We haven't been there in forever and it was so fun. We played video games for about 4 hours. lol.

I told him that this year was much better than last year's anniversary because he had a job. I wasn't being catty - just saying that because we could actually afford to go out & celebrate.

He was laughing at me in the car on the way home because I put in a CD with our wedding song on it & I started crying. I yelled at him and told him that I was crying because that day meant so much to me and I was so happy that the song just brought up those memories. But God love him, he let me sing it at the top of my lungs without further interruption. ;)

Got our taxes done on Saturday night. We owed $118. Far less than I expected and we hopefully won't owe next year, so that was a pleasant surprise. We're making some changes in deductions this year which will *finally* get us some money back. That's the plan anyway.

Anyhoo, Happy Monday!

When my dad was still alive he volunteered for The Arc of Dauphin County -
since I can't sleep right now I did a google search of my dad's name & was surprised to come up with this from Volume XXX?? Issue 2?? Summer 2001??? Page 11:

"In Memory ...
One of The Arc's staunch supporters who volunteered with the Annual Appeal, Brian J. Derr ,of Harrisburg, Pa. recently died. He served as a captain in the campaign and enthusiastically gave his time and talents. He also served in many civic and religious groups. His smiling face and friendly manner will be missed. "

:) Love you, daddy!

DUMBASS! From BostonHerald.com - Police Logs: Four billion dollar man?

" A Dorchester man was busted for allegedly carrying rubber checks so big he could have dribbled them to the bank.

Thanh Nhat Le, 51, was nabbed at Sovereign Bank on Dorchester Avenue Tuesday afternoon allegedly trying to cash a phony check for $7,550. Even though Le had opened the account with just $171 in small bills last week, he apparently thought the check would clear because of large check deposits he had made, police said.

One check was written out for $4 billion; another for $2 million; and another for $250,000. The bank's loss prevention specialists' suspicions were aroused by the colossal deposits - the millions were mailed in last month and the billions were deposited Monday - and they contacted police.

Cops from C-11 were called to the bank yesterday as the 5-foot-6-inch, 140-pound suspected conman was arguing with a teller. He was arrested for fraud, charges that were made worse during the booking process when police allegedly found in his pockets a stash of eight diamond rings, stolen credit cards and a pile of bogus checks made out in large amounts to banks across the city.

There was also a check for $31,342 made out to Shreve Crump & Low. "

Ok, so the new The Sims 2 Expansion pack was "officially" announced today. TS2 Nightlife will be released this fall. Appears to be a lot like Hot Date for TS1, but of course, much better. Not only will there be a downtown area, but your Sims will get to **GO BOWLING**! I'm obviously an old, fat, dorky white girl if I was so super excited to see that. Maxis is bring back the slow dance interaction & the dip kiss. It already sounds so great! Here's a link to an interview with Tim LeTourneau and Shannon Copur (hmm....Ivy Copur anyone?). They are the Senior Producer & Producer, respectively. Also includes screenshots which are on the Maxis site too.

I don't go to Comedy Shows very often. Mitch Hedberg was one person I would go see if I had the money. Well, 2 others are coming to Dallas this year and I can't wait!!! Ralphie May will be at the Improv in Addison August 11-14 and John Heffron will be at the Improv October 26-30!

Wow, add a Live show and this year will be awesome for entertainment! ;)
